Beware the photographer that... only shoots with all natural lights.
Professional photography is all about lighting. Not all photographer that shoot with natural lighting are bad. Most photographers that start out, don't understand how lights work. Most photograhers that are starting out can't afford lights to make their pictures look better. The easy way to cover this up is to say, "I shoot with natural lighting. It just looks better to me." Really they don't know how to use lights or they just can't afford to buy any.
There is a way to light Men and Women to complement their fectures. Just us having lights on a person doesn't make good shots. If you put lights in a certain patern you can soften wrinkles, reduce the size of a nose, make the body look slimmer, and draw all the attection to the eyes.
Beware the photographer that... has most of their pictures with special affects.
Alot of times when a photographer is starting out they don't know how to take a good photograph. Or what constitutes a great portrait. When they take a photo that looks kind of okay, they will do alot of cool computer stuff to try to make a good photo out if nothing. Go look on face book and see all the kids that take millions of bad photographs, notice how the make them all look better with their computers. Some times computers can make a great photo look even better. But when you see a photographer that does it alot... Ask yourself, What are they trying to cover up. |
Beware the photographer that... only posts a few shots for you to look at.
Even a blind squirl gets a nut. When you don't see alot of pictures. That may mean their isn't alot to see, only a few. Sometimes just lucky shots.
Beware the photographer that... charges for every little service.
Years ago photographers started looking for new ways to make more money.
They started to offer packages. Give the costumer alot of one or 2 pictures for a little money. Then charge them a premium for the shots they really want.
Then the setting fee only applied to the first :30 or :45 minutes. Now you are being charged to rush and get the pictures you want.
Only 3 or 4 outfit changes, No extra people, Before long you "cheap picture session" is turning out to be very costly. Oh and how much for Blemish removable???

If a photographer will only shoot inside Its because he probable cant or doesn't know how to shoot outside. It they only shoot outside they probable don't have an inside. You want a photographer that is willing to be flexable. Shooting what you want.
Beware the photographer that... has all their pictures look the same, or like someone else.
You don't want to have your portraits look like everyone else.
